'Pompeii Burning' is a gouache painting on paper. During a visit to Italy and Pompeii, I visited the newly opened Sorrento Experience Museum. Here it included an exhibition to experience the sounds and sights of what it must have been like to experience Mount Vesuvius errupting. It was deafening and had a real impact on me!

This painting is one of a few  works completed after my visit. It captures the heat and chaos of the erruption by the sea.
